I am preparing to release Add-on Updater and Windows App Essentials 22.07 based on latest localization data and recent changes to NVDA and Windows. But this is only the beginning (a preview of what’s coming in northern summer):
- Add-on Updater and Windows App Essentials 22.07: scheduled for July 1st or 2nd, these releases will include latest localization data. Add-on Updater resolves major bugs, and Windows App Essentials officially declares support for upcoming Windows 11 Version 22H2.
- NVDA compatibility: version 22.07 of Add-on Updater and Windows App Essentials will likely be the second to last stable version to support NVDA releases earlier than 2022.1. In case of Add-on Updater, at least a month after NVDA 2022.2 is released, a stable version will be released that will require NVDA 2022.2 to align with add-on support policy – Add-on Updater supports latest stable NVDA release with extended support for older releases in case the latest stable version is a compatibility breaking release such as 2022.1. At the same time, a future Windows App Essentials stable release will require NVDA 2022.1.
- Add-on Updater changes: stay tuned for an announcement about a major update to Add-on Updater tentatively scheduled for this summer. The last major update was last year, but I expect upcoming change will be bigger than use of community JSON files for add-on compatibility data.
