Hi. In Portuguese of Brazil, the translation shortcut control+Shift+NVDA+T is working smoothly... Thanks.

Yes. I am able to reach the headers in the meeting request with the Tab key.

And to your question about whether there are other issues:

When I have the Bcc field enabled, and writing a new message, I can’t read the subject line with any of the Alt+number key combinations.

Hi Ralf and Daniel

According to Daniel's log (sent in private message), it seems that the headers fields are present and visible. But the control ID of this field are not the same as those expected, i.e. the ones used previously.

@Ralf or other investigators:
* Could it be specific to Outlook 365 64-bits? Did you test on such version?

* Do you have exactly the same version of Outlook 365 as Daniel's?

@Daniel:
Is meeting cancellation message the only one that has an issue?

Thanks.

Hello Daniel

Thanks for reporting this issue. Any feedback from other people on this topic is also welcome.

Maybe Ralf?

To help debugging this, could you please execute the following actions:

* Ensure that your log level is on DEBUG in NVDA's General settings
* Open NVDA's python console and execute the following commands:
import globalVars
globalVars.olexDebug = True
(Note that this debug setting will not be active anymore after NVDA restart)
* Open Outlook and open a cancelled meeting request
* Press various shortcut to read headers such as Alt+1, Alt+2, etc..
* Send me the log.

Note that the log in debug mode may contain personal information about your e-mail titles, cancelled meeting request headers and content, etc. If this information is sensitive, you may want to send me directly the log (if you want) rather than on this list.

Some additional questions:
* What is your version of Outlook? Did you test (if possible) on various version?
* Has this issue always been here or did it appear recently?
* When you speak about cancelled meeting request, are you referring to a message received in your Inbox informing you that a meeting that was previoulsy sent to you has been cancelled by the meeting organizer?

I do not remember if I have checked this type of messages. And I am not sure to be able to test myself for now due to work at home. Anyway, I will try to fix it. If I do not succeed in fixing it now, I will do it as soon as I can test.

Cheers,

globalVars.olexDebug = True
(Note that this debug setting will not be active anymore after NVDA restart)
* Open Outlook and open a cancelled meeting request
* Press various shortcut to read headers such as Alt+1, Alt+2, etc..
* Send me the log.

Cheers,

Hi Ralf and Daniel

According to Daniel's log (sent in private message), it seems that the headers fields are present and visible. But the control ID of this field are not the same as those expected, i.e. the ones used previously.

@Ralf or other investigators:
* Could it be specific to Outlook 365 64-bits? Did you test on such version?

* Do you have exactly the same version of Outlook 365 as Daniel's?

@Daniel:
Is meeting cancellation message the only one that has an issue?

Thanks.

Cheers,

Cyrille

Re: perform tasks while add-on install

Hi,
You can't register libraries while installing or uninstalling add-ons - you
must bundle these libraries with your add-on. This is more so on systems
where Python isn't even installed.

Because you cannot (you should not) register a package in strict and
static sense. The thing usually done is:
- include the package sources/binaries in a folder called "mypackage"
(for example);
- put this folder in a folder called "lib" (for example) in add-on
root directory;
- where necessary, do:
import sys
libPath = os.path.join(os.path.dirname(__file__), "..", "lib")
sys.path.append(libPath)
import mypackage
del sys.path[-1]
...your code using mypackage...
At my knowledge, this should be the better organized and most secure way.

Hi Christopher,
my suggestion is to see first on pypi website if there is a zip distribution of which you want, or, alternatively, run pip install ... locally, then recover necessary files from your Python directory (under lib\site-packages and so on). Then proceed with imports as I explained in previous mail.

Re: FW: [program-l] NVDA add-on development questions

James Scholes

Hi Adil,

The content of Joseph's earlier message is useful for background, if you truly wish to know how the various parts of NVDA, your operating system, etc. come together to provide you with an accessible experience. But in this case, the most important thing to take away from it is that you cannot set the value of an edit field by modifying the NVDA object representation of it.

I did send a separate message to the list, explaining how you can set the text of a standard Windows edit field. Did you try that? If it doesn't work, or if the application is not standard Win32, then you may not be able to achieve what you want from within NVDA. For example, if you're trying to set the content of an edit field on a web page, you definitely should be writing a browser extension instead, not an NVDA add-on.

If you need more info, please tell us what you're trying to achieve, and in which application.

Regards,

James Scholes
