Re: NVDA Add on Development Guide and Notepad++

I saw that. Of course, doesn’t fix the installer issue, I’m going to post an issue about that since it hasn’t gained much more traction here. Unless I missed something I am still going through mail from the last two days.

and a good one at that.
It sometimes pays off to cross-check with the 32-bit version.

I don't think that does hold true at least in all cases.
I use waterfox and thunderbird and those are x64 right now.

Did anyone try the 32bit version of notepad++? Since there is no x64
version
of NVDA, running x64 applications might cause NVDA x86 problems,
especially
if those x64 applications use a different API than the x86 versions. Java
access bridge and Swing UIs in Java poses this problem for NVDA. Use a 64
bit build of the jdk and NVDA fails to read any apps built with it. Use
the
x86 version of the jdk, and it works just fine. Since there isn’t any 32
bit
jdk anymore, NVDA no longer has access to apps built in Java. Just posing
this as a potential problem with notepad++ x64.

Alright, I will study them.
I have unfortunately no standard account, only admin (although it is
strange that one has always to permit admin rights separately).
Have you tried version 7.7 and can you confirm the bug I've mentioned?

Hello to anyone still following this long thread.

I attempted an install of notepad++ version 7.6.6, using the 64 bit
installer,
as both a normal user and an admin user. I took full debug logs from
both,

which are attached.

Because they are full logs, I have marked them as follows:

A single star (*) above any error, warning, or group of same.
Double stars (**) at the start of the section which shows when I first
launched
the installer.
A star dash star (*-*) above the main string of errors in the normal
user
log,
relating to the window with the missing tree of checkboxes.

I hope this helps someone figure out what's going on here, but it seems
to
me
that a lot of information that should be included in NVDA debugging,
isn't,
so I
am not hopeful.
