To be honest, I wouldn't bother, the brother iprint software just sucks, so does all of their software in general.

If you need to basically scan anything access brothers control panel directly from its webserver.
Right clicking your printer in network and choosing view web page, will get you there.
You can do simple pdf conversion and scanning there which is all us blinks probably ever need anyway.
